Fantasmas de estações passadas – Ghosts of seasons past

(Scroll down for English)

Today I decided to raid my closet for garments not worn in a long time. I can’t remember exactly when I got this dress, maybe 2006 or 2007… I forgot that I had it. In my opinion it’s still very wearable so today I took it for a ride…

Vestido listado, opção2 – Striped dress, take 2

(Scroll down for English)

Here is the second outfit of the striped dress sequence; it’s intended for the late summer rainy days and I’m wearing the dress with a lavender trench coat which I made myself (see the details and tutorials here, if you like) and my purple suede peep toe booties.

Não me consigo fartar destas calças – I can’t get enough of these pants

(Scroll down for English)
Obrigada pelas vossas respostas no post anterior!

They are comfortable and they are not too heavy/hot for this weather, permitting several style options, not only for the summer but also for fall/winter. When I woke up the weather was cloudy and a bit chilly, hence the blazer, however after lunch it was back to our typical August hot/sunny weather so I took the blazer off and I was ok. The top was made by me using the same pattern as this dress and it’s backless so I was wearing a leopard print top underneath which doesn’t show in the pictures.
Thank you all for your answers on my previous post!

Casual com brilho à mistura - Casual with added sparkle

(Scroll down for English)

I wore this outfit for a family birthday dinner out (in this case if I had been too dressed up , I’d have felt out of place, believe me)… Many would state that sequins are only to be worn for night events, but this “fashion rule” (as many other fashion rules, if one can call them that way) is starting to be neglected and ignored by many. In my opinion a sequined piece could work by day toning up a very casual outfit like jeans and a white t-shirt, for example (ok, I’d through in a good pair of heels too). For this day I decided against wearing the bolero to the office by day, putting it on only by dinner time. What do you feel about sequins in daytime outfits?

Vestido listado, opção 1 – Striped dress, take 1

(Scroll down for English)

This is the first of a series of weekly posts featuring this dress styled in several possible ways together with existing pieces of my wardrobe. Here’s the dress worn “solo” for a summer outfit. The organza bubble scarf complements this simple look adding visual interest. I bought this beautiful scarf from my friend Rosa Fortes Etsy store, she makes amazing accessories! I made the dress myself, the details can be seen here if you’re interested.

Top giro + jeans imitação de pele - Cute top + leather-like jeans

(Scroll down for English)

You can’t get it wrong combining a cute top with leather-like jeans or just jeans, that’s a no-brainer outfit that always works fine for me (excuse my hair, it was still wet/damp at the time). The bangles are a perfect match for the colors of the top (white, blue, purple and green), adding a plus to the outfit. I also decided to try on my gladiator heel sandals to see how they look with these pants.

Mais um dia escaldante de Agosto - Just another hot August day

(Scroll down for English)

This entire outfit was made by me; the one-shoulder abstract print silk top (see the sewing details here) is a great option for standing the August heat and the wide taffeta pants (sewing details here) are extremely comfortable and fresh. As final details I opted for the bangles, flat sandals and statement mother-of-pearl earrings.

Vestido em croché – Crochet dress

(Scroll down for English)

I made this dress (the details are on my other blog) and here you can see it styled with some turquoise blue accessories that break the neutrality of the tan color of the dress. I chose the tan color for the dress because I thought it would be more original and unique. The necklace, earrings and ring are a set and I usually I don’t wear sets of jewelry all together but in this case I thought it would look nice. I also added a detail shot of the sandals, so you could see their nice texture. Hope you like it!

Alerta sapatos! - Shoe alert!

(Scroll down for English)

They came in the mail today and fit me like a glove!
Here they are with the zippered pants; do they look hot or what?

Adoro-te, túnica vermelha – I love you, red tunic

(Scroll down for English)

I don’t know why but every time I wear this red tunic (I made it myself from a Burda magazine pattern – you can see the details here if you’re interested), I feel gorgeous. The pants were ordered thinking of upcoming season but I couldn’t resist taking them for a ride. I was most drawn by the side zippers on them and I can see me wearing these pants with black stilettos. I have a certain shoe model in mind, they are on their way to me and I hope they fit :)

Acorrentada num estilo mais clássico– Chained in a dressier way

(Scroll down for English)

This time the chain necklace is worn in a dressier way, together with a green jersey dress (according to Wikipedia, this is called asparagus green, is this correct?) and a matching color crochet embellished handbag that caught my eye last time I went shopping. My hair was really messy (as always) and I had to style it into a high bun before I left home (with the heat outside I wouldn't stand it flowing down on my back, anyway).

(Scroll down for English)

As far as I can remember I always passed on golden jewelry (my jewelry collection used to be mainly sterling silver and/or silver plated); however, in the past months I started to develop a taste for bold golden jewelry and when I saw this chain necklace it was love at first sight.
Another special component of this outfit is the “Redcoat ” inspired cardigan that I bought on sale online. The military inspired embellishments are made of commonly found ribbon and could easily be reproduced to enhance some old forgotten plain cardigan tossed away in your closets.
