Pink and ivory after the storm – Depois da tempestade, cor-de-rosa e marfim

We had stormy weather during the night: low temperatures, strong wind and heavy rain; it was so loud that I had trouble seeping through the night… My son, on the other hand, seems immune to the loud noise and slept “like a baby” :). So today I felt in the mood for cozy and warm, adding up some color to brighten up my sleep deprived self. I was lucky to catch the sun peeking out as I took these pictures; I think they came out really great. How was your weekend? I stayed in and was able to sew a little something! You all have a wonderful day!

Leopard print has been a constant trend for the last couple of years and it looks like it will remain so. It can be worn with a multitude of colors, being the most common the black, ivory (also a favorite combo of mine), red for the most daring, grey (not so usual but I love it), camel, etc. Today I chose to pair my leopard print pencil skirt with powder pink, wearing it with a knit cabled turtleneck and a leather jacket. Hope you guys like today’s outfit! Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting!

Emerald green and black leather – Verde esmeralda e cabedal preto

My relationship with the color green has ups and downs; lately I’m feeling like I love green, specially the bright emerald green shade… So I gave in into buying this coat after an unsuccessful quest to find the perfect emerald green fabric and making a similar coat myself. All in all I think it was a good buy because the coat will go through the remaining winter layered over warmer clothes and since it’s unlined, it will stand the warmer temperatures as well when spring comes. The distinctive detail of this coat (other than the color and the texture of the fabric) is the exposed seams,… One must look at it as a design feature and not think that the coat is “unfinished” or just poorly finished. I’m wearing slouchy leather pants and heels (yes, my feet were cold!) and not seen in the first few photos because the wind was blowing it towards my back, is my flower print bag (featured in my previous post).

The weather isn’t helping at all with my auto-imposed photographic endeavor of recording my outfits everyday… In between heavy rain showers and strong winds I was able to snap these few pictures at my company’s parking lot. It was impossible to take close-up pictures in the end because the weather just got worse… Hope you’re getting better weather wherever you are!

---

Cobalt blue coat and denim - Casaco azul-cobalto e ganga

Today’s outfit features a cobalt blue coat that I’ve own for a couple of years worn with black denim pants and shirt; in between I layered my blue denim jacket for added warmth. I’m also wearing a new flower print bag which I really love and believe it will be worn often because it goes with almost everything and provides that special touch to any outfit. The ankle boots are also a few years old, but since they have a classic design they don’t really go out of fashion. Have a wonderful day everybody!

OOTD: Grey fur and winter whites – Casaco de peles cinzento e branco invernal

Today I was already late to work so these photos where snapped in a hurry right outside my son’s kindergarten. The cold and rainy weather still prevails (we had some hail showers yesterday!) and it looks like it will remain like this for a while, so the weather is perfect for wearing my winter coats and playing with layers. Wishing you all a wonderful day!

---

(NOTA: para quem não sabe, OOTD significa “Outfit of the Day”)

Dressing down my Donna Karan inspired set with a denim jacket

Sometimes we think that certain clothes are only wearable on special occasions, because they are so distinctive and chic for everyday wear. This skirt and top set is a fine example of such clothing but in some cases we can apply some tricks to dress down an outfit and make it more casual. In this case I’m wearing my Donna Karan inspired ruched top and skirt (self made back in 2011, click here for the sewing review) with a denim jacket and grey ankle boots. On top I layered my recently made grey blanket coat (click here for the sewing review), because today it’s really cold! I kept the rest of the accessories to the minimum but couldn’t resist adding this cobalt blue bag for a little splash of color! Have a wonderful day, guys!
PS – Never mind the messy hair, the wind was giving me a hard time while I was shooting! Oh, and all photos were taken by me!

---
