Grey long overcoat, printed tunic and yellow accents – Sobretudo comprido cinza, túnica estampada e contrastes em amarelo

First up, let me wish you all a Happy New Year! I took some time off from blogging during the holidays and now I’m back with my first 2015 outfit, as I wore it today. Many people don't like grey because they think it's a dull color that doesn't favor us (there are surveys that show that grey is the color most commonly associated with conformity, boredom, uncertainty, old age, indifference, and modesty); I on the other hand think it’s a great basic and ideal for combining with most colors, ranging from other basics like camel and black to bright colors like red and yellow. Lately I've been lusting over light grey long coats (most definitely influenced by streetstyle and other personal style blogs that I follow) and when I saw this one on sale I grabbed it immediately, along with the sheath mini-dress (which is also light grey btw, but features a printed front panel). When I bought these two items I thought of wearing them together with my beige knee high suede boots, which complement the print of the dress so nicely, so here it is.

2014 was not a good year for me (although it had its great moments too) so I look forward to this New Year with anticipation and hope. I don’t really make formal NY resolutions but I did pledge on two things: getting back to the gym and start working out at least three times a week and sew more of my wardrobe. Physical exercise has always been an important part of my life but due to my current time constraints it has been neglected. Today I went to the gym and attended my first Body Pump class in a very long time,… It felt great while I’m anticipating lots of soreness on the next couple of days… As to sewing, I've started making a coat; coats are really what I like sewing the most but they are more time consuming than most sewing projects, so I really don’t know when it will be finished.

So this is it, I really need to find balance between being a Mother, my full time job, sewing, working out and blogging, because all of this defines me as a person and I always feel like I’m losing a part of myself when any of these vectors is not present. That’s what being a Woman is all about, multitasking, right? Happy New Year, everybody!

Beijos enormes.

  5. Its hard doing it all, isn't it? I'm usually too tired after work to do much. I hope this year will give me more energy. I am back at the gym too. Best wishes for 2015

  7. My dear, indeed we are multitasking, but I blogging better when I'm happier so for me personal life takes first. I agree about grey, a good playground for colors, even in cases is all about just a red lipstick.
I let a comment on the previous post as well.
    many kisses

  8. Oh that sounds like mist of my life ! It's getting easier now . I am loving having a grandchild like little person in my life and it's because I am able to enjoy him rather than surviving as I did with a job and 3 children, house family husband and a very distant sewing room. I have learnt to be much more layed back and to make sure I get my emotional sustenance which comes from being creative. Good luck with finding your balance .
