Pink and burgundy work well together – As cores rosa e vinho combinam bem

Today I’m starring the Cotton Candy coat again, this time with a burgundy total look (I was inspired by this great look at Bittersweet Colours blog; I absolutely LOVE her pink coat, a DYI project of hers). In my look, the burgundy cozy was made by me (here’s another look; the pattern used was OOP V8305). The last pictures are overexposed to light so you can see it better. This cozy is a very versatile wardrobe piece; it can be wrapped around the body in a multitude of ways.

Hoje estou a usar o casaco “Algodão Doce” de novo, mas desta vez num look total cor-de-vinho (inspirada neste coordenado do blogue Bittersweet Colours; ADORO o casaco cor-de-rosa que ela está a usar, e foi feito por ela!). No meu conjunto, o cozy cor-de-vinho foi feito por mim (podem também ver-me a usá-lo aqui; o molde é o já descontinuado V8305). Nas últimas fotos provoquei uma sobre-exposição à luz para poderem ver melhor como amarrei o cozy. É uma peça muito versátil, pois pode ser usada de variadíssimas formas.

Red tartan blazer and black velvet pants – Blazer de xadrez vermelho e calças de veludo pretas

I wore this outfit to my son’s kindergarten Christmas party, where I participated in a play called “Santa’s dream” playing the part of the narrator (an intellectual leprechaun/elf, lol!). I wouldn’t normally wear a red turtleneck with this outfit, I’d prefer a white or off-white blouse or turtleneck; the red turtleneck is actually part of my costume (that and the red opaque pantyhose that I’m wearing under the black velvet pants). All I had to do to change was substituting the pants by a green skirt, the tartan blazer by a green “capecho”, then adding a pair of really big green glasses, the pointed hat with elf ears and the elf shoes; can you imagine how I looked like? LOL! 

In this outfit I like the cut of the red tartan blazer, but if it was made by me, I’d make some effort to match the plaid on the sleeves, at least horizontally (see the side view below; note that the sleeves hang perfectly well, the fabric is pulling because I am balancing the arm backwards as I walk; the point here is just the plaid alignment). RTW industry doesn’t always pay attention to this kind of details…  

Usei este conjunto para a festa de Natal do infantário do meu filho, onde participei numa peça chamada “O sonho do Pai Natal” a fazer o papel de narradora (uma duende/elfo intelectual, haha), Normalmente não escolheria o top vermelho para este conjunto, preferia uma camisa ou top brancos, mas a camisola de gola alta faz parte do meu disfarce (isso e os collants opacos vermelhos que estou a usar sob as calças). Para mudar de roupa só tive de substituir as calças por uma saia verde, o blazer por um capecho verde e acrescentar o barrete com orelhas de elfo, uns óculos verdes enormes e sapatos de feltro verde de pontas reviradas; conseguem imaginar-me assim vestida? Hahaha!

Neste conjunto gosto bastante do modelo do blazer mas se tivesse sido feito por mim teria feito um esforço para alinhar os quadrados do corpo com as mangas, pelo menos na horizontal (vejam a foto onde estou de lado, abaixo; atenção que as mangas até têm um bom cair, eu é que estou a puxar o braço atrás e daí formam-se aquelas rugas repuxadas nas mangas). A indústria de pronto-a-vestir nem sempre dá importância a este tipo de detalhe…

Spots on a rainy day – Estampado leopardo num dia de chuva

Wearing a leopard coat made by me (click here for the sewing details, if you’re interested) with a black turtleneck, black leather leggings and OTK flat boots. I’ve belted the coat to enhance the waist (tip: if you wear the belt a little higher than your natural waist, your legs will look longer - this is great, especially if you’re using flats like I am today). I’m also wearing the coat unbuttoned to create a longer vertical line which induces the optical effect of elongating the figure. 

Estou a usar um casaco estampado leopardo feito por mim (cliquem aqui se estiverem interessados nos detalhes de costura) com uma camisola de gola alta (atenção galera do Brasil, aqui camisola não é roupa de dormir!), calças de couro e botas rasas sobre o joelho. Usei um cinto por fora do casaco para realçar a cintura (truque: se usarem o cinto um pouco acima da vossa cintura natural, as vossas pernas vão parecer mais longas! Este truque é óptimo para quando usarem sapatos rasos, como é o caso aqui). Também estou a usar o casaco aberto, para criar uma linha vertical e assim alongar ainda mais a figura.

Wearing a couture camel cape with burgundy – A usar capa camel alta-costura com bordeaux

This cape was a gift from dear friend Paco Peralta, the Spanish Couturier behind BCN-UNIQUE Designer Patterns. The last time you saw me wearing this cape, I was in my early pregnancy (click here). Don’t let the apparent simplicity of the cape fool you; this cape was handcrafted by Paco and involved a lot of manual work: the edges were all worked by hand; the buttonholes were hand sewn… It’s a beautiful garment only truly appreciated live by those of us who sew and value fine workmanship. I feel deeply honored for this invaluable gift from my best friend Paco. 

I am wearing the cape with a burgundy knit sweater which I purchased recently (it has a beautiful detail on the back; I’ll try to show you this in another upcoming outfit, if I can), burgundy leggings and the same brown platform boots worn yesterday (I felt so powerful in these boots that I had to wear them again today). I’m also wearing a faux fur snood made by me (click here). Esta capa foi um presente do meu querido Amigo Paco Peralta, o costureiro espanhol por detrás do BCN -UNIQUE Designer Patterns. A última vez que me viram aqui a usar esta capa estava eu nos primeiros meses de gravidez (cliquem aqui). Não deixem que a aparente simplicidade desta peça vos engane; a capa foi feita à mão pelo Paco e envolveu muito trabalho: as orlas e as costuras foram todas acabadas à mão, as casas de botões são bordadas à mão… É uma peça lindíssima talvez só verdadeiramente apreciada ao vivo por aqueles de nós que costuram e dão valor a um trabalho desta categoria. Sinto-me profundamente honrada por ter recebido este presente do meu grande Amigo Paco.

Estou a usar a capa com uma sweater de tricô cor-de-vinho (ou bordeaux) que comprei recentemente (tem um detalhe trabalhado nas costas muito original, que espero mostrar numa próxima oportunidade), leggings da mesma cor e as botas plataforma castanhas que usei ontem (senti-me tão poderosa com elas que tive de as usar outra vez hoje!). Também estou a usar um snood de pelo sintético feito por mim (cliquem aqui). As fotos foram tiradas pelo meu amigo fotógrafo amador que deseja permanecer anónimo, mas desta vez usando a minha máquina. O lindo cenário é das instalações da empresa onde trabalho. Stewardess inspired look in midnight blue – Look "hospedeira de bordo" em azul-noite

 

Back to chic, glamorous and ladylike with this stewardess inspired look! I’m not sure if the pictures show the outfit’s true color: it’s not black, it’s very dark blue. I had this outfit planned for yesterday but I changed my mind and wore a casual look instead (and I’m happy I did because I had a lot of walking around to do and those Chelsea boots are the most comfortable shoes ever!); today I was more inclined to this style but even so I changed my original conception, adding the red accents which I didn’t think of when this outfit first came to mind. De volta aos looks femininos e chiques com este coordenado inspirado nas fardas das hospedeiras! Não tenho a certeza que a verdadeira cor do conjunto seja evidente nas fotos: é azul muito escuro e não preto. Tinha planeado este conjunto para ontem, mas acabei por optar por um look mais casual (e ainda bem que o fiz, pois tive muito que andar por aí e aqueles botins são umas verdadeiras pantufinhas em termos de conforto!); hoje já me senti mais inclinada para este estilo, mas mesmo assim mudei a minha visão inicial: adicionei um pouco de vermelho, detalhe que não tinha planeado com antecedência. Tenham todos(as) um ótimo dia!

Casual look in shades of grey – Look casual em tons de cinzento

I rarely plan ahead my outfits because most of the time I change my mind in the morning; but yesterday I spent a few minutes putting together an outfit in my mind for today: a total dark blue look with accents of tan brown, something edgy and chic with high heel platform boots and all, even put the clothes aside… But as usual my mind was set in other direction once I got out of bed. It was HARD leaving the coziness of my sleeping nest and stepping out into the freezing reality so my outfit reflects an attempt of keeping some of the warmth and comfort… And let’s face it, I gave you chic and glamorous on Saturday, so today you’ll get casual warmth, flat shoes (Chelsea boots! Click here for the Wiki link) and a cozy scarf,… That’s me, always embracing change and diversity. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel the appeal of the dark blue/tan outfit… We’ll see. 

These pictures were taken by the door of my old apartment at Vagueira beach (DH played along and snapped these in a few minutes time, otherwise I wouldn't post this look). I went there to grab a couple of suits that I’ve made a few years ago and haven’t worn in a while… So in a near future, if all goes well, I’ll take my sewing enthusiast readers on a trip down memory lane! Raramente planeio os meus coordenados com antecedência porque na maioria das vezes acabo por mudar de ideias quando acordo de manhã. Hoje foi um desses dias: ontem tinha pensado numa roupa para hoje, um look total em azul noite com acentos em castanho mel, um coordenado chique e arrojado com direito a botas plataforma de salto alto e tudo… Até pus a roupa de lado para não perder muito tempo de manhã. Mas como invariavelmente acontece, acordei com uma disposição totalmente diferente. Foi DURO sair do conforto e calor do meu ninho para esta realidade gelada, então o meu look reflete a vontade de preservar o quente e confortável. No sábado dei-vos glamour, hoje têm um look casual, confortável e quentinho, botins rasos (este género de botins é conhecido como “botins Chelsea”; cliquem aqui para a definição em Inglês, a tradução em Português está muito pobrezinha...) e um xaile aconchegante usado como uma écharpe,… Sou assim, sempre a abraçar a mudança e a diversidade, haha. Talvez amanhã o coordenado azul-noite/castanho mel me seja mais apelativo, veremos.

Estas fotos foram tiradas à porta do meu antigo apartamento na praia da Vagueira (o Miguel fez-me a vontade e tirou-mas à saída, de outra forma não teria publicado este look). Fui lá buscar uns fatos feitos por mim que estavam guardados e que não uso há bastante tempo. Portanto, se tudo correr bem, num futuro próximo vou levar os meus leitores aficionados na costura mais antigos a recordar algumas das minhas criações! Obrigada a todos(as) por visitarem!
