I knitted this big chunky snood some time ago (I actually started it last year but failed to finish it during last winter and then put it aside until this fall). Its color is actually more vivid than the pictures show because they were shot in poor lighting conditions (it was really cloudy and dark this morning). It’s very easy to make (it’s a tube made from a garter stitch rectangle, with a chain cord threaded along one end: click here and check the English language box, unchecking the Portuguese); as you can see from the pictures, it can be worn different ways. Today I wore it like a wrap and combined with metallic gray and gold; hope you like it!

Tricotei esta “gola multifunções” há algum tempo ( de facto comecei-a no inverno passado mas não a consegui terminar e então deixei o trabalho de lado até ao início deste outono). A sua cor é bastante mais viva do que as fotos mostram, uma consequência da pobre iluminação (hoje de manhã o tempo estava bastante escuro e nublado). É um projecto muito fácil de confeccionar, consiste num tubo de liga (um rectângulo com os lados mais curtos unidos, cliquem aqui para mais detalhes) com um cordão passado numa das extremidades para ajuste. Como podem observar ajusta-se ao corpo e é bastante versátil, uma vez que pode ser usado de diferentes formas. Hoje levei-o como xaile e combinei-o com cinzento metálico e dourados. TGIF! There’s nothing like a new red dress to brighten up my day! I bought it already on sale with a 50% discount and it’s from the Portuguese designer brand Americo Tavar (I don’t usually mention brands in my blogs but in this case I’m making an exception). Really love this dress and plan on wearing it a lot. I wish you all a great weekend!

Ainda bem que já é sexta-feira! Não há nada melhor que um vestido vermelho novo para animar o meu dia! Comprei-o já em saldo com 50% de desconto e é da marca/designer Português Américo Tavar (normalmente não costumo mencionar marcas, mas neste caso estou a abrir uma excepção). Gosto mesmo muito deste vestido e planeio usá-lo bastantes vezes. Aproveito para desejar a todos um óptimo fim-de-semana!

2011-12-02: Turquoise beauty - Beleza turquesa

I finished this coat yesterday (sewing review ~~will be up as soon as I find the time to write it~~ is published here) and I couldn’t be happier with it! I’ve been lusting over a wide fit coat for quite some time and Paco’s pattern “Abrigo T” filled the bill perfectly (pattern is available for sale here). It’s made of turquoise boiled wool and it’s very warm and comfortable. The top was also made by me, from another of Paco’s patterns (sewing review is published here). Turquoise and brown is such a wonderful color combination, don’t you think? I’m feeling really great in this outfit!

PS – I didn’t dye my hair again; the red color faded slightly with the washings, but it’s still there; it's not very visible in these pictures though.

Terminei este casaco ontem (os detalhes de costura ~~serão publicados logo que possa~~ estão publicados aqui) e não poderia estar mais satisfeita com o resultado! Ando com desejos de um casaco assim largo já há algum tempo e o molde “Abrigo T” do Paco preencheu os meus requisitos perfeitamente (o molde está à venda aqui). É feito de um tecido misto de lã turquesa com uma textura muito bonita, o casaco é quente e muito confortável. A blusa também foi feita por mim, de um outro molde do Paco (cliquem aqui para os detalhes de costura). Turquesa e castanho fazem uma linda combinação de cores, não acham? Hoje estou a sentir-me muitíssimo bem a usar este conjunto!

PS - Não pintei o cabelo outra vez; o vermelho saiu um pouco com as lavagens, mas ainda está lá, nas fotos é que não é muito aparente.

O Kiko foi esterilizado há uma semana e recuperou bastante rapidamente da operação; ele e a Missy hoje estiveram muito divertidos a brincar no nosso quintal!

2011-11-24: Sunny days are back – Os dias solarengos estão de volta

I woke up to a beautiful sunny day, after too many days of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms, and I was glad to finally be able to take a few outdoor shots without the risk of getting wet. I may say I was feeling edgy and in the mood for something on the daring side, lol. Most of what I’m wearing today was made by me and it’s not the first time some of these garments are featured in this blog. The fur coat (click here for the sewing review) is shown today without the matching snood; the lace dress (click here for the sewing review) is also wearable in cold weather just by layering it over a turtleneck sweater in the same color. I also added a knit bolero and these OTK boots to break away from the prettiness /sweetness of the ivory lace dress and balance the look a bit. Hope you like it!

PS1 - Thank you all who comented on my new hair color! I'm glad so many of you liked it!

PS2 – I’d also like to wish all my readers and friends in the U.S.A. and their families a Happy Thanksgiving. Also to my younger sister, who is in Phoenix Arizona visiting her boyfriend, hope she has a wonderful first Thanksgiving as well!

Hoje acordei para um dia lindo, após demasiados dias de chuva, vento e trovoada. Finalmente é possível tirar algumas fotos cá fora sem arriscar acabar toda encharcada! Devo dizer que acordei bem-disposta e a sentir-me irreverente, com disposição para usar algo audacioso, hehe. Grande parte deste conjunto foi feito por mim e não é a primeira vez que alguns destes elementos são vistos neste blogue. O casaco de pelo (cliquem aqui para os detalhes de costura) desta vez é usado sem a gola (“snood”) a condizer; o vestido de renda (cliquem aqui para os detalhes de costura) pode perfeitamente ser usado em tempo mais frio sobre um top de gola alta, neste caso da mesma cor. Também sobrepus um bolero de malha e estou a usar umas botas “sobre os joelhos” para contrabalançar um pouco a doçura do vestido de renda. Espero que gostem!

Sometimes a woman needs some change, and the easiest way to achieve it is to change the hair color (and it’s also reversible, as opposite to a new hair cut). So yesterday, during my monthly visit to the hair salon, I decided to dye my hair darker and add some dark red/violet hues (rad, I know…). I like it, but as any radical change it takes some time getting used to, lol, and I know this hair color is not everybody’s cup of tea either…

Today I’m wearing burgundy and blue (I’d prefer a vibrant shade of blue like the one shown in this article, but I have yet to make/buy a vibrant blue coat, lol). The Burberry inspired coat that I’m wearing was made by me (click here for the sewing review). Wishing you all a great weekend, have fun!

Às vezes uma mulher tem necessidade de mudar o visual e a forma mais fácil de o conseguir é mudar a cor do cabelo (uma mudança que tem a vantagem de ser reversível, em comparação com uma mudança de corte radical). Então ontem, na minha visita mensal ao cabeleireiro, decidi mudar: optei por esta cor mais escura com tons de violeta e vermelho (radical, eu sei…). Para já gosto bastante, mas como qualquer mudança radical leva algum tempo a habituarmo-nos, hehehe, e não é para todos os gostos…

Hoje estou a usar cor-de-vinho com azul-marinho (preferia que o azul fosse vibrante como o top do conjunto mostrado aqui, mas ainda não fiz/comprei um casaco nesse tom, fica para uma próxima vez). O casaco inspirado em Burberry foi feito por mim (cliquem aqui para os detalhes de costura). Desejo a todos um óptimo fim-de-semana, divirtam-se!

2011-11-16: Mustard yellow coat (made by me)

I’ve made this coat back in 2009 or early 2010, I’m not sure. I don’t think I reviewed it on my sewing blog either… The pattern is from the September 2009 Burda Magazine, model 122. I made it as a short coat instead of the long overcoat version with a belt. I also added facings, an under collar and lining, since the original had none of these (it was supposed to be a “blanket coat” of sorts). I also added big snaps. The fabric is a mix of polyester and wool in bright mustard yellow.

Since mustard is such a big hit this fall, I thought I should take this coat out for a spin. I’m wearing it with black and grey and also starring my new Mongolian fur bag that I ordered from eBay. You all have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting!

Fiz este casaco em fins de 2009 ou início de 2010, não tenho a certeza. Também não creio que o tenha mostrado no meu blogue de costura… O molde é da Burda de Setembro de 2009, modelo 122. Fiz uma versão curta em vez do original sobretudo e adicionei vistas e dois panos à gola (no original a gola era apenas um pano, rematado com pontos à mão), forro e molas de pressão à frente. O original não tinha nada disto, atava com um cinto e seria feito de um tecido estilo “cobertor” e rematado com pontos “luva”. O tecido que usei é misto de lã e poliéster de cor amarelo mostarda vivo.

Já que a cor mostarda é uma tendência forte este outono, resolvi levar este casaco a dar uma volta! Estou a usá-lo com preto e cinza e também a estrear o meu novo saco de pelo da Mongólia que encomendei no eBay. Tenham todos um óptimo dia e obrigada pela visita!

2011-11-09 - Skater style DIY skirt - Saia plissada feita por mim

That’s right; I was taking these pictures in the rain (you can actually see some drops in the pictures, if you look closely)… It’s just that I’ve made this skirt back in June and didn’t get to wear it until today (sometimes this happens). I couldn’t pass on the chance to document it, since I really love this skirt. This is the way I like wearing it: with big chunky knit sweaters and opaque black tights. This fall I’ve been seeing skirts, dresses (or even shorts) being worn with bare legs by very stylish bloggers from the northern Europe, but I just can’t do it; I’d froze to death, even though our weather is not as severe as the weather in the Northern countries, lol!

On a different subject, some friends have been writing to me complaining about malware on my blogs; I can assure you all that my blogs are not infected (I’ve been checking regularly using blogger Webmaster tools); there are a few compatibility problems with browsers other than Internet Explorer and I can’t guarantee that some of the links on the sidebar aren’t triggering virus warnings either. One solution would be to eliminate my blogroll on the sidebar but I’d prefer not to do that. I’ve also heard that the visit counters used on most blogs also trigger these warnings, but I also suspect some virus warnings are triggered by commercial entities with the intent of convincing people to buy their anti-virus software. Please let me know by email if you are experiencing any problems with my blogs and again, be reassured that my blogs are malware free. Thanks.

É verdade, estive a tirar estas fotos à chuva (se olharem com atenção podem ver algumas gotas nas fotos)! É que fiz esta saia em Junho e só agora a usei pela primeira vez (às vezes estas coisas acontecem), como tal não podia deixar passar a oportunidade de documentar este conjunto. É assim que gosto de usar esta saia: com malhas grossas e collants opacos. Este outono tenho visto muitas blogueiras, inclusivamente do norte da Europa, a usar saias, vestido e mesmo calções com as pernas nuas, mas eu não seria capaz; apesar do nosso tempo não ser tão severo como no norte da Europa, acho que ia morrer de frio!

Mudando de assunto, alguns amigos têm-me escrito com queixas de malware/vírus nos meus blogues; posso garantir com toda a certeza que os meus blogues não estão infectados (tenho diagnosticado frequentemente usando as ferramentas Webmaster do blogger). Sei que há alguns problemas de compatibilidade com alguns browsers além do Internet Explorer e não posso garantir que alguns dos links na barra lateral não estejam a despoletar estes avisos. Uma solução seria eliminar a lista de blogues na barra lateral, mas preferia não ter de o fazer. Também ouvi dizer que os contadores de visitas também podem estar a despoletar avisos de vírus, mas o que realmente desconfio é que algumas firmas comerciais de venda de anti-virus estão a despoletar estes avisos para levar as pessoas a adquirir o seu software de protecção.
Por favor digam-me se têm tido experiência de algum destes problemas nos meus blogues. Obrigada.

2011-11-03: Citron and gray – Amarelo limão e cinza

With the persistent rainy weather that has been going on, the chances of getting outdoors outfit pictures are pretty scarce; luckily today I was able to snap a few shots when I left home to the office in the morning.

I really love this color combo and was inspired by this gorgeous outfit by Angie of Youlookfab blog. Those who also follow my sewing blog may recognize the grey pants and the coat, both made by me (I never got to review this coat but I did review another version of it, click here). Speaking of my sewing blog, I’m really behind on updating it, but life is really getting in the way lately, hope you all understand.

Com a chuva persistente que tem havido, as hipóteses de conseguir fotos no exterior são muito raras; hoje, com alguma sorte lá consegui documentar o que levo vestido (um pouco à pressa), pois a chuva fez o favor de pausar quando estava a sair de casa para o trabalho.

Gosto bastante desta combinação de cores e a minha inspiração veio deste conjunto magnífico da Angie do blogue Youlookfab. Quem segue o meu blogue de costura há algum tempo deve lembrar-se destas calças e do casaco (não tive tempo de escrever sobre este casaco no meu blogue de costura, mas escrevi sobre um outro que foi feito com o mesmo molde, cliquem aqui). Falando do meu blogue de costura, estou muitíssimo atrasada na publicação; simplesmente não tem havido tempo suficiente para tudo, espero que compreendam.

2011-10-29: Weekend off-duty outfit – De folga no fim-de-semana

During weekends I get to wear those clothes which usually feel too edgy for the office, like these bad-ass boots and the leather shorts. We had a long rainy week, but today the sun came out to say hi and I and the cats were able to come outside for a photo shoot… In this outfit only the pleather sleeve sweater was made by me. Have a lovely weekend, everybody!

É durante os fins-de-semana que posso usar certas peças um pouco ousadas demais para o ambiente de trabalho, como estes calções de cabedal e as botas à “motard”. Tivemos uma semana bastante chuvosa por cá, mas hoje o sol decidiu dar ares de sua graça e eu e os gatos aproveitámos para vir cá fora fazer uma sessão fotográfica… Neste conjunto só o top com mangas de napa foi feito por mim. Isabel Marant inspired boots – Botas inspiradas em Isabel Marant

When I was a teenager I had a similar pair of boots in camel and remember wearing them into exhaustion because they were kind of my lucky shoes at the time; this is the main reason why I couldn’t resist these babies the minute I saw them at the store, but they also reminded me of Isabel Marant’s Fall2011 show, where fringed boots and Native American motifs had a strong presence (following picture is courtesy of http://www.style.com/; see the complete Isabel Marant’s collection here). The stone color also appealed to me and made me dream of white on white coordinates (the kind that mix different shades of white, like the one pictured below), another trend I look forward to trying this year.

The dress was a online purchase and has a couple of interesting details not shown in the pictures; the sleeves have a hole for the thumb, so they can also function as fingerless gloves if desired, and the back neckline is draped (it’s a backwards cowl neckline actually). Next time I’m wearing the dress I’ll make sure to highlight these details.

Another frantic week is ending and I’m looking forward to the weekend, when I'm hoping on having some free time for my hobbies and also updating on my blog reading. Take care you all!

Na minha adolescência tive um par de botas muito semelhante a este, mas em camel e lembro-me de as usar sempre, porque eram uma espécie de talismã para mim. Esta foi a principal razão para não resistir a estas botas na loja mal as vi, mas também me lembraram as botas do desfile de pronto-a-vestir Outono-Inverno de Isabel Marant, onde botas com franjas e motivos tribais tiveram uma presença forte (a foto seguinte é cortesia de http://www.style.com/; vejam a colecção completa de Isabel Marant aqui). A cor branco-sujo também me atraiu e fez-me imaginar coordenados de branco sobre branco (do tipo em que vários tons de branco são combinados, como na foto abaixo), uma tendência que também queria experimentar.

O vestido foi uma compra online e tem dois detalhes interessantes, os quais não são evidentes nestas fotos: os punhos têm uma abertura para o polegar, sendo que as mangas podem funcionar também como luvas, e nas costas o decote é drapeado, como uma gola ao contrário. Da próxima vez que me fotografar com o vestido vou ver se mostro estes detalhes.

Outra semana frenética está a chegar ao fim e mal posso esperar pelo fim-de-semana, quando espero ter algum tempo livre para os meus hobbies e também para me por em dia na leitura dos blogues. Até à próxima!

The crimson dress

I finished this dress last weekend (the pattern used is from the October BurdaStyle magazine, it's dress 123A; click here for the sewing review), and took these pictures right after photographing the Donna Karan ensemble. I don’t consider myself a very camera-friendly person; usually I take about 15 shots and I’m lucky if 5 of them are usable for the blog. With this dress however, almost all the pictures came out great (IMO) so I decided to publish most of them. There’s something about the color of the dress, it reminds me the color of some roses… It works really great with the green lawn.

I picked the necklace inspired by the following picture (the crystals reminded me of the morning dew…).

Terminei este vestido no fim-de-semana passado (o molde é da revista Burda de Outubro, modelo 123A; o artigo sobre a costura está publicado aqui) e tirei estas fotos logo a seguir a fotografar o conjunto Donna Karan. Não me considero uma pessoa muito fotogénica; normalmente tiro cerca de 15 fotos de um coordenado e com sorte cerca de cinco serão utilizáveis no blog. No entanto, as fotos deste vestido saíram praticamente todas bem (na minha opinião), então decidi publicá-las quase todas. Há algo na cor do vestido que me lembra da cor de algumas rosas… A cor sobressai imenso no verde do relvado.

Escolhi a gargantilha inspirada na foto seguinte (os cristais lembram-me o orvalho matinal nas rosas…).

Donna Karan top and skirt (DIY Vogue1259)

I played dress up this morning to show you guys this gorgeous outfit I made some time ago (never mind the tired face, I’ve just recovered from food poisoning last week,…). I used Vogue 1259 pattern to make this ensemble. Though it looks like a dress, this is really a top and skirt, which can be combined together or worn as separates. I’m really happy with this one. ~~and hopefully I’ll be able to post the sewing review later on my sewing blog, for those interested~~ The sewing review is published here. Hoje decidi tirar fotos deste fantástico conjunto que fiz há já algum tempo (não reparem na expressão abatida, acabei de recuperar de uma intoxicação alimentar na semana passada,…). O molde que usei para fazer o conjunto foi o Vogue 1259. Embora pareça um vestido, na realidade trata-se de um top e uma saia, que podem ser usados em conjunto ou separados. Estou muito contente com o resultado. ~~e espero ter tempo de ainda hoje publicar os detalhes no meu blogue de costura, para quem estiver interessado~~ Os detalhes de costura estão publicados aqui. 2011-10-09: Sunday at Oporto – Domingo no Porto

Hi guys, sorry for my long absence… I’m still here, but been off the blogland for a while, for personal reasons.

This Sunday I went to Oporto to visit some friends and family and this is what I wore. We had a great time and in between drinks and great food, I took these pictures outside my friend’s apartment. I haven’t been sewing much during my absence and time being so short ~~there hasn’t been the chance for updating my sewing blog~~ ( just updated it a few minutes ago). I still owe my readers the Paco’s skirt full review, and a couple more things that I managed to sew (The V1259 set – a real challenge – and on the making is dress 123A from the October BurdaStyle; hope I’ll e able to finish it today before another hectic week at the office begins). Too bad the weather isn’t playing along; these babies won’t get worn until the temperatures drop! Hope all is well with you all and thank you all so much for keep visiting!

Olá pessoal, desculpem-me a longa ausência… Ainda estou por aqui, mas ausente da blogosfera por uns tempos por motivos pessoais.

Este domingo fui ao Porto visitar amigos e família e foi este o conjunto que usei. Divertimo-nos bastante e entre bebidas e boa comida vima cá fora tirar estas fotos para vocês! Não tenho costurado muito, e com a falta de tempo ~~não tenho podido actualizar o meu blog de costura com o que tenho feito~~ (acabei de o actualizar há minutos). Ainda devo o artigo sobre a saia do Paco, e depois disso tenho mais umas coisitas para vos mostrar (O conjunto Vogue 1259 – um verdadeiro desafio – e quase terminado está o vestido 123A da BurdaStyle de Outubro; espero acabá-lo hoje, antes que comece a loucura que as minhas semanas de trabalho têm sido). É uma pena que o tempo não colabore e tenham de esperar por dias mais frios para me verem a usar estas roupinhas novas! Blown by the wind – Ao sabor do vento

Sorry for the long absence guys, there hasn’t been time for much blogging lately…

I’d like to thank all the advice on the use of hair straighteners, I really appreciate it. And here I am, showing off my straightened hair! It really works! I’m taking all the precautions most of you mentioned and I’m also using a heat protective spray. I am pleased with the results! I won’t be always wearing my hair like this, but it’s nice to change my hairdo from time to time.

Now let’s talk about the clothes I’m wearing, all made by me: the skirt is something else and it’s a Paco Peralta’s pattern (~~a soon to be released pattern~~, I was testing it for Paco). It’s not a true half circle skirt; it’s drawn from the basic skirt block which is spread into a quarter of a circle (for each back and front panels – there are two side seams). As a consequence, the waistline curve is not truly circular and the skirt hangs more evenly. It is also cut on the bias, in spite of being made from a knit fabric in this case. It’s a fabulous design which will be available in two lengths and four different sizes. The sweater was made from a BurdaStyle pattern that I’ve used a couple of times before. Desculpem-me a ausência prolongada, mas ultimamente não me tem sobrado tempo para os blogues…

Agradeço desde já todos os conselhos e sugestões quanto ao uso das placas alisadoras (chapinhas), foram muito úteis. E aqui estou eu, a mostrar o meu cabelo alisado com as chapas! Realmente resulta! Estou a tomar todas as precauções que a maioria de vocês mencionou e também estou a usar um spray termo-protector. O resultado agrada-me bastante! Não vou usar o cabelo assim sempre, mas às vezes sabe bem variar de penteado.

Agora vamos à roupa que estou a usar, toda feita por mim: a saia é qualquer coisa, e foi feita com um molde do Paco Peralta (~~um molde que será disponibilizado em breve~~, estive a testá-lo para o Paco). Não é uma verdadeira saia em meio círculo, pois foi desenhada a partir do molde básico de saia, manipulado até um quarto de circunferência (para cada parte, frente e costas – a saia tem costuras ao lado). Em consequência a linha da cintura não é circular, o que proporciona um cair mais uniforme da saia. Apesar de ser confeccionada num tecido de malha (neste caso), os panos da saia são cortados em viés. É um modelo fabuloso que estará disponível em dois comprimentos e quatro tamanhos. O top é feito a partir de um molde da revista Burda que já tenho usado algumas vezes. Os detalhes de costura deverão ser publicados amanhã, para as interessadas. Tenham um óptimo fim-de-semana!

More leopard print and leather – Mais padrão leopardo e cabedal

These are the same style elements as yesterday’s outfit, using different wardrobe pieces. This time around wearing a leather-look skirt that I made some time ago (sewing details posted here), with a leopard print shirt and an old parka that I dug out of my closet. The only new item is the wired golden cuff on my right wrist (and the golden watch is a recent purchase too, but I wore it before). The weather is still hot and rainy, meaning my hair is all frizzed, sigh. It’s really annoying so I’ve been researching on Hair Straighteners and I’ve just ordered one from Amazon (UK). Any of you has some input on this kind of device?

Estou a usar os mesmos elementos do estilo de ontem, no entanto com peças de guarda-roupa diferentes. Desta vez tenho uma saia de napa que fiz há algum tempo (detalhes de costura aqui), uma camisa comprida e solta de padrão leopardo e uma parka antiga de descobri nos confins do armário da roupa. A única coisa realmente nova é a pulseira-punho de arame dourado (o relógio também é recente, mas já o tinha usado). Por aqui tempo continua quente e húmido, o que significa cabelo difícil de domar… Tenho andado a pesquisar placas térmicas de alisamento (chapinhas no Brasil – um nome mais fácil e directo!) e ontem encomendei uma da Amazon (UK). Alguma de vocês tem experiência com este tipo de aparelho?

I have to apologize for the lack of updates lately; once again life gets in the way of blogging…

Time has been short even for sewing (I haven’t made anything during the last couple of weeks). It’s not just the shortage of time; I think it’s also due to the proximity of fall. It’s that time of the year when it’s still hot for wearing summer clothes, yet our mind is set on fall clothes… We lack the mojo to sew the clothes we want because more summer clothes feel like a redundancy and we know that it won’t be possible to wear fall clothes right away.

Anyway, today I came home during lunch break and had time to take a few pictures. I’m wearing a simple T-shirt with an embellished pocket, leather skinny pants and a white jacket (all purchased more than one year ago except for the leather pants, which I own for a couple of months). The calf animal print shoes complete the look and also name this post as a reference to the well known Lou Reed's song (click here to listen on youtube).

Tenho que desculpar-me pela falta de actualizações nos últimos tempos; mais uma vez a vida entra em conflito com os blogues…

O tempo tem sido pouco até para costurar (já não faço nada há umas duas semanas). E não é só a falta de tempo que me impede de costurar… Acho que também é a proximidade do outono. É aquela altura do ano em que ainda está calor para usar as roupas de verão, no entanto a nossa cabeça já está posta nas roupas da próxima estação… Falta a vontade de costurar pois mais roupas de verão parecem redundantes, e roupas outonais ainda não se podem usar.

De qualquer forma, hoje tive de passar por casa à hora de almoço e tive um tempinho para tirar umas fotos. Estou a usar uma t-shirt simples com um bolso embelezado com alguns cristais, calças justas de cabedal e uma jaqueta branca (tudo comprado há mais de um ano excepto as calças que têm alguns meses). Os sapatos de pelo estampado leopardo completam o look e dão o nome a este artigo, numa referência à famosa canção de Lou Reed (cliquem aqui para ouvir no youtube, se quiserem).

I‘m the kind of person who doesn’t take too long to figure out what to wear in the morning; normally I think of one item and built up the outfit around that item… Today I got up, took breakfast and decided to wear my silver gray satin top (sewing details are published here). Looked out the window and it was sunny… Good. I picked up these silk pants because they are so breezy and add color to the outfit. Then I thought that my twin metal cuffs would look wonderful too, and so on. Got dressed and went outside to snap some quick photos before leaving to the office (ops, forgot my sunnies inside) … Oh man, it’s HOT outside! Glad I’m wearing breezy clothes! After taking the pictures, went to start my car which btw is black and was parked outside under sunlight that day and… Oh well, let’s just say that satin tops + heat = 100% chance of sweat chains. NOT GOOD! Went back inside, refreshed myself and picked up a cotton jersey top instead (which is fuchsia, btw)… I was already running late, so no more pictures…

Sou do tipo de pessoas que não demora muito tempo de manhã a decidir o que vestir; normalmente penso numa peça e construo o resto do conjunto em função dessa peça… Hoje levantei-me, tomei o pequeno-almoço e decidi que queria levar o meu top de cetim cinza prata (detalhes de costura aqui). Olhei pela janela e estava sol… Bom. Escolhi as calças de seda por serem vaporosas e dão um pouco de cor ao conjunto. Depois pensei que os meus punhos metálicos também iam ficar bem aqui, e por aí adiante. Vesti-me e vim cá para fora para tirar umas fotos rápidas (bolas, esqueci-me dos óculos de sol)… Caramba, está calor cá fora! Ainda bem que estou a usar roupa leve! Depois de tirar as fotos, entrei no carro, que por sinal é preto e nesse dia tinha ficado cá fora ao sol… Bem digamos apenas que tops de cetim + calor = 100% de probabilidade de manchas de suor. NADA BOM! Voltei para dentro de casa, refresquei-me e vesti um top de algodão (já agora, cor fúcsia) … Já estava bastante atrasada, por isso não deu para tirar mais fotos…

Mixing dots with more dots – A misturar pintas com mais pintas

First let me thank you all for the great feedback received on yesterday’s outfit; I’m happy that most of you liked it so much!
As for today, you’ll get more of the black Obi belt and dots,… lots of dots. Mixing different patterns can be tricky but I think in this case it really appeals to the eye. Later today I have a friend’s birthday party dinner to attend and no time to go home and change so this outfit must suit both the office and the BDay party. It’s different, so some of you may not like it at all, but I think the monochromatic palette spiced up with a little pattern mixing is really cool. I must say that flared pants (providing that they are hemmed to cover your shoes entirely or almost entirely) teamed up with very high heels really do wonders for your figure, elongating the legs and making you look taller and thinner(yesterday’s outfit was also a good example). Oh, and today I tried to tame my hair into a pony tail, avoiding the frizzy hair look caused by the humidity in the air. Have a great day everybody!

Em primeiro lugar devo agradecer o feedback muito bom que recebi quanto ao coordenado de ontem; fiquei muito contente que a maioria de vocês gostasse tanto do conjunto!
Quanto ao conjunto de hoje, bem, levam com mais cinto “obi” e com pintas e mais pintas… Misturar padrões diferentes (seja de pintas ou outros tipos de padrões) pode tornar-se complicado mas penso que neste caso a conjugação fica muito bem à vista. Mais logo vou a um jantar de Aniversário de uma amiga, e a minha roupa tem de dar tanto para o escritório como para o jantar, uma vez que é provável que não tenha tempo de ir a casa mudar de roupa. É de facto um coordenado “diferente” e muitas de vocês poderão até não gostar nada, mas na minha opinião a palete monocromática avivada com um pouco de mescla de padrões realmente tem um efeito bonito e original. Devo dizer que calças justas em cima que alargam até à bainha (compridas de tal forma que cubram os sapatos), usadas com saltos muito altos realmente fazem milagres pela nossa figura, alongando imenso a perna (o conjunto de ontem é também um bom exemplo desse efeito). Ah, e hoje apanhei o cabelo num rabo-de-cavalo, na tentativa de domar o frisado causado pela humidade que se sente no ar. Tenham um óptimo dia!

Salmon pink Jacket (DIY) – Jaqueta salmão (feita por mim)

Today I woke up into a rainy day, and I was lucky to take these pictures without getting wet, lol. My “personal photographer” was already gone on his way to the office and I was late but couldn’t pass on the chance of showing off my latest creation, this salmon pink jacket. I used a Vogue Paris Original pattern signed by Guy Laroche. The flared salmon pink pants that complete the suit were already reviewed; click here for some pictures and more pattern details. The jacket (or should I call it a kimono?) has a certain oriental vibe into it, and we all know kimonos are in right now. As for the pastel color, it’s a nice change from all the bright colors that most people (me included) are wearing this summer. Hoje acordei para um dia chuvoso e tive sorte em conseguir tirar estas fotos sem me molhar, hehe. O meu “fotógrafo de serviço” já tinha saído e estava já atrasada, mas não pude deixar passar a oportunidade de mostrar a minha última criação, esta jaqueta rosa-salmão feita a partir de um molde Vogue Paris Original assinado por Guy Laroche. As calças do conjunto em rosa-salmão já foram mostradas e revistas, cliquem aqui para algumas fotos e para mais detalhes do molde que usei. A jaqueta (ou deveria antes chamar-lhe um kimono?) tem um certo ar oriental e todos(as) sabemos que os kimonos estão na moda no momento. The tangerine dress (DIY) – O vestido tangerina (feito por mim)

I made this dress back in May (sewing details are posted here) and today I wore it for the second time; this time around I was able to take pictures! The first time I wore it with a white blazer and white accessories (no belt); today the weather is too hot for a blazer so I wore it solo, with leopard print accessories (minus the skinny belt which is almost the same color of the dress and the black bag – not shown because I forgot to take it outside with me). I was sitting all day at the office so it got some wrinkles, but that’s to be expected. I really love this dress, it’s fashionable (both color and style) and unique because I made it!

Fiz este vestido em Maio (os detalhes de costura estão aqui) e hoje usei-o pela segunda vez; desta vez lá consegui tirar umas fotos! Em Maio usei-o com um blazer branco e acessórios também em branco (sem cinto); hoje está demasiado calor para levar blazer, por isso usei-o sem casaco, com acessórios em leopardo (excepto o cinto fino, que é quase da mesma cor do vestido e uma bolsa grande preta que me esqueci de incluir nas fotos). Passei o dia sentada no escritório, por isso é natural que o vestido esteja um pouco engelhado, o que é normal. Goste bastante deste vestido, está bastante na moda (tanto a cor como o estilo) com a particularidade de ser único porque fui que o fiz!

It looks like the weather is improving, hope it remains sunny for the weekend. This is what I wore today (the leather-like leggings were made by me, click here for the sewing details). My “mountain rock” ring is missing because I took it off to wash my hands and forgot to put it on again but you saw it before on previous posts. Kiko was in the mood for taking pictures as well; I think he looks better than me (at least not as tired after a full day at the office).

Parece que o tempo está a melhorar, só espero que se mantenha solarengo no fim-de-semana. Usei este conjunto hoje (da minha autoria apenas as leggings de napa, detalhes de costura aqui), falta apenas o meu anel “montanha”, pois tirei-o para lavar as mãos quando cheguei e esqueci-me de o voltar a pôr, mas creio que o devem ter visto em artigos anteriores (creio que até o usei ontem). O Kiko estava com disposição para tirar fotos e até acho que ficou melhor nelas do que eu (pelo menos não parece tão cansado depois de um dia de trabalho como eu).

Skinny cargo pants – Calças “cargo” justas

Never say never; I was the one who said I’d never wear skinny cargo pants in my life and here I am, sporting them with my Acne Amon inspired shirt (sewing details are published here). Fashions change and people’s minds evolve with them, point taken. I used to argue that skinny pants with pockets on the thighs would automatically add extra pounds to your figure. Now I think they are versatile and can build up the perfect casual look.

Nunca digam nunca; eu fui das que disse que nunca iria usar calças cargo justas na vida e aqui estou eu a usá-las com a minha camisa inspirada na Acne Amon (detalhes da costura publicados aqui). A verdade é que as modas mudam e os gostos das pessoas tendem a mudar com elas, é um facto. Para mim calças justas com bolsos nas pernas eram sinónimo de engordar 3Kg só assim de olhar. Agora já penso que este género de calças são versáteis e compõem qualquer visual casual perfeitamente.

Kiko is growing bigger by the day. He eats like a lion, will eat his share and Missy’s share (because she’s a slow eater) if I don’t intervene to stop him.

O Kiko está a crescer de dia para dia. Como como um leão e, se eu não intervir, come a parte dele e a da Missy (porque ela come muito devagar).

Fuchsia and white outfit – Coordenado fúcsia e branco

Today I woke up feeling quite cheerful and decided to wear my fuchsia top (sewing details here, just scroll down for the review) combining it with a white crossover skirt that I bought on sale some time ago (I like it because it sits on the hip, looking more relaxed). I spent all morning shopping for groceries and supplies and I felt pretty good in this outfit, casual but pulled-together as well. Other colors I like combining with fuchsia are some shades of green and blue. It also goes great with neutrals like black and grey.
On a side note, did you notice my slight tan??? The weather reports state that the weather will turn from Monday on (into showers and thunderstorms) so I had to take advantage of the good weather while it lasts. At least I won’t get back to the office looking like I spent my vacation at home sewing, *blink*!

Hoje acordei bem-disposta e alegre e decidi usar o meu top fucsia (os detalhes de costura estão aqui), coordenando-o com uma saia de trespasse branca que comprei nos saldos há algum tempo (gosto dela por assenta na anca e não na cintura natural, por isso tem um ar mais descontraído). Passei a manhã nas compras (mercearia, mantimentos) e senti-me muito bem com este conjunto, casual, mas ao mesmo tempo com um ar cuidado. Outras cores que gosto de combinar com o fúcsia são alguns tons de verde e azul. Também vai muito bem com cores neutras como o preto e o cinzento.
Já agora, alguém reparou no meu ligeiro bronzeado??? A metereologia diz que o tempo vai mudar já a partir de segunda-feira (chuva e trovoada) por isso tive de aproveitar o bom tempo enquanto dura. Ao menos não vou voltar ao escritório com ar de quem passou as férias em casa a costurar ;)!

I swear it’s the first day in July that isn’t too windy to go to the beach here in Aveiro. Up until now, all I could get if I went to the seashore was a “free exfoliating treatment” by sand being blown against my body. So here I am, getting ready to go get a nice tan (finally!). DIY snake print dress – Vestido estampado cobra (feito por mim)

Made this dress last weekend and I’m so happy with it that I will most definitely make it again (a black pleather version is a must, maybe also another one in white crepe). I opted for these clog sandals and maxi bag hoping to dress it down a little, since I wore it to go to the city and run some errands. Personal photographer wasn’t feeling like going out so I went alone (I was hoping to get some pictures taken in the city; instead these were taken when I got back by lunch time). Fiz este vestido neste último fim-de-semana e fiquei tão satisfeita que muito provavelmente vão ver outras versões dele em breve (um em napa preta é obrigatório, talvez outro em crepe branco). Finished this skirt yesterday and I couldn’t be happier with it! My friend Paco sure knows how to draft meticulously (click here), the lines of this skirt are amazing! The shaping on the hip/waist fits perfectly and the subtle A-line is drafted on the exact right proportion considering the long height of the skirt. Bravo Paco! The sewing details ~~will follow shortly over at my sewing blog, as soon as I get some time to compose the review~~ are published here.
For this outfit I wanted to create a romantic feel, something timeless and a little bit dramatic, hope you guys like it!

Acabei esta saia ontem e não poderia ter ficado mais feliz com o resultado! These pants were a handful of work (sewing details posted here, just check the english language box to read it in English) but I guess it was well worth it in the end, because I really love them and they are unique! I’m wearing the pants today and I couldn’t pass on the chance of photographing them. My outfit is quite simple; I’m coordinating the bright tomato red of the pants with a simple purple top/purple peep toe booties and bold accessories. Hope you like it!

Estas calças deram uma trabalheira a fazer (detalhes de costura publicados aqui) mas na minha opinião o trabalho valeu bem a pena, porque adorei o resultado final e são mesmo únicas! Estou a usá-las hoje e não pude deixar passar a oportunidade de as fotografar. DIY sand color boxy dress – Vestido solto cor de areia feito por mim

I made this dress recently (sewing details are published here, just check the English language option and scroll down until you reach the pictures of the dress), and I wasn’t sure if I should wear it before getting a nice tan,… Nevertheless, this week I got a late birthday gift (it got lost somehow and I only received it on the day before yesterday), the fringed necklace that I’m wearing and immediately thought that it would look nice with this suede dress, so this is how I came up with today’s outfit. The tanning will have to wait!

Fiz este vestido há pouco tempo (os detalhes de costura estão publicados aqui, andem para baixo até chegar às fotos do vestido), mas estava reticente em usá-lo antes de estar bem bronzeada,… Então esta semana recebi um presente de Aniversário atrasado (andou perdido e só antes de ontem me foi entregue), o colar com franjas que estou a usar. Imediatamente pensei que ficaria muito bem com o vestido de imitação de camurça, e assim nasceu a ideia para o conjunto de hoje. O bronzeado ficará para mais tarde!

Coral and grey with silver accents – Coral e cinza, com nuances prateadas

First of all thank you all for the well wishes, Kiko is not yet fully recovered but is doing better already.
Today’s outfit features a color combo that I’m quite fond of and also some silver accents which is something I’m seeing a lot in the store windows lately. This weekend I was able to spend some time sewing and these grey wide leg pants are part of my achievements. I started by making them in ivory and liked the end result so much that I made another pair in grey. I don’t know if I’ll get the time to review them on my other blog so, for those interested in the sewing details, the pattern is from the June BurdaStyle (model#114), and instead of the waistband with encased elastic I opted for this ready on elastic band, which is much easier and quick to apply (just ease the waist seam allowance with a loose running stitch and zigzag stitch it to the elastic band). The silver jacket was made some time ago and the pattern is from Mrs Stylebook, a Japanese pattern magazine (sewing details are published here; note: the english text is in yellow). I also would like to highlight the knitted i-cord bracelet, which is a gift from a dear friend and fellow blogger who came to spend the weekend in Aveiro together with her lovely family! I was thrilled to finally meet them in person!

Em primeiro lugar muito obrigada pelos desejos de melhora do Kiko, ele está melhor embora ainda não esteja completamente recuperado.
O conjunto de hoje incorpora uma combinação de cores que me agrada muito a também uma peça prateada, algo que tenho visto muito nas montras ultimamente. Este fim-de-semana tive algum tempo livre para costurar e estas calças cinzentas foram um dos produtos finais. Comecei por fazer este modelo em marfim e gostei tanto do resultado que repeti a dose em cinza. Não sei quando terei tempo para escrever sobre estes projectos no outro blogue, por isso aqui fica a referência ao molde usado: BurdaStyle de Junho, modelo 114. Em vez da cintura com elásticos metidos do original, optei por aplicar esta banda elástica que já tinha usado num outro projecto anteriormente, e que é muito mais fácil e rápida de aplicar (basta franzir a orla da cintura com um ponto corrido solto e cosê-la ao elástico por dentro com ponto ziguezague). A jaqueta prateada já foi feita há algum tempo e o seu molde é da Mrs. Stylebook, uma revista de moldes japonesa (os detalhes de costura estão publicados aqui). Também não posso deixar de referir a pulseira tricotada em i-cord, um presente de uma querida amiga e companheira dos blogues que me deu o prazer da sua visita juntamente com a sua adorável família! Fiquei muito feliz por finalmente os conhecer em pessoa!

I’ve been unable to post; again life is getting in the way and lately there’s a lot going on in my life… Too much work on one hand and some worries as well… Last week Missy fell ill, she started to be more and more still, like if moving would cause her pain… She was also vomiting (first we thought she was trying to get a fur ball out), and she gradually lost her appetite… We took her to the vet and after getting her blood analyzed, she was diagnosed with a viral infection, probably carried on by little Kiko. The vet explained that his immune system as a little kitty is much stronger so the symptoms took the form of sneezes only. Missy was medicated and a couple of days later she was fully recovered. Little Kiko however soon started to develop the same symptoms (except vomiting). He was clearly in pain and with high fever and again we had to run to the vet… He was medicated and today he looks better already, so we let him come outside for a few moments and get some fresh air. He got us really scared yesterday, because he couldn’t stand on his feet and wouldn’t eat (and he loves eating!).

Ultimamente não tenho podido publicar nada nos blogues; mais uma vez a vida mete-se no caminho das minhas intenções… Por um lado ando sobrecarregada com trabalho, por outro tenho tido algumas preocupações. Na semana passada a Missy adoeceu, começou a ficar cada vez mais quieta como se o movimento lhe causasse dor, vomitava frequentemente e começou a perder o apetite (antes disso, quando os vómitos começaram, pensámos que fosse um bola de pelo que ela estivesse a tentar expelir) … Levámo-la ao veterinário e depois de umas análises ao sangue ela foi diagnosticada com uma infecção viral, provavelmente transmitida pelo Kiko. O veterinário explicou que os gatinhos pequenos têm um sistema imunológico muito mais forte e por isso nele os +únicos sintomas de nota seriam alguns espirros. A Missy foi medicada e uns dias mais tarde estava recuperada, mas logo a seguir o Kiko começou a apresentar os mesmos sintomas (excepto o vómito); ontem foi mais uma corrida para o veterinário (assustámo-nos mesmo, pois ele nem se aguentava nas patas e deixou de comer), e hoje ele apresenta melhoras substanciais, embora ainda não esteja a 100%, por isso deixámo-lo vir cá fora apanhar um pouco de ar enquanto eu tirava algumas fotos.

Purple on a rainy day – Púrpura num dia de chuva

The temperatures have finally dropped to the normal values for this time of the year; the sky is clouded and judging from the humidity in the air, there will be rain soon, so I get the chance of wearing one of my trench coats. This one was made in 2009 (sewing details were published here). The purple top was made recently (check out the sewing details here). These pictures were taken this morning at my rooftop terrace, a space that I intend on using a lot during summer.
Unfortunately there hasn’t been time for sewing or catching up on my friend’s blogs and again I feel overwhelmed with all I want to do and the little spare time available…

Finalmente as temperaturas voltaram aos valores normais para esta época do ano; o céu está nublado e julgando pela humidade no ar, vai chover muito em breve, o que me dá a deixa para usar as minhas gabardinas. Este foi feito em 2009 (os detalhes de costura estão aqui). O top roxo foi feito recentemente (detalhes aqui). As fotos foram tiradas no meu terraço, um espaço que tenciono usar muito no verão.
Infelizmente não tem havido tempo para costurar e acompanhar os blogues das minhas amigas e mais uma vez sinto-me prostrada perante a quantidade de coisas que quero fazer e o pouco tempo livre disponível…

Missed me? I sure missed you guys… I’ve been unable to post for a large number of reasons, too much work and hectic timetables, busy weekends and also Missy’s new play mate, a 2 month old male kitty that we called Kiko… We should have called him Atomic Ant instead, lol. Lately I’ve been noticing that Missy was a little melancholic and I thought she might need company of her own kind during the day instead of being all alone. When I introduced Kiko to her there was a lot of hissing and roaring from her (and a lot of slapping on the new kid too) but now they are finally getting along and I believe she accepted him and really enjoys his company…
Now for today’s outfit, I’m wearing all last year’s clothes and accessorizing with pearls in the colors of the tunic, so the effect is to blend in the jewelry, not to highlight it… Hope you like it! The heat wave continues, so I’ve been wearing simple breezy outfits, but there’s rarely the time to document them, unfortunately…

Sentiram a minha falta? Eu senti a vossa! Tem sido impossível publicar, por um largo número de razões: sobrecarga de trabalho e horários completamente caóticos, fins-de-semana com muito que fazer e um novo gatinho para fazer companhia à Missy, com apenas 2 meses e ao qual chamámos Kiko (mas deveríamos ter-lhe chamado Formiga Atómica porque ele não para!). Ultimamente tinha-a achado melancólica e achei que talvez precisasse de uma companhia da mesma espécie para lhe preencher o tempo que fica sozinha em casa. Quando lhe apresentei o Kiko ela ficou muito assanhada e rosnava-lhe, dava-lhe com a pata e cheguei a recear que não o aceitasse, mas passados uns dias já brincam os dois como se não houvesse amanhã e acho que ela aprecia mesmo a companhia dele, porque a vejo mais activa e feliz.
Quanto ao conjunto de hoje, as roupas são todas do ano passado e usei bijutaria com pérolas em três tons, os mesmos da túnica; a ideia é que a bijutaria fique um pouco camuflada, se misture e não sobressaia. Espero que gostem! Quanto à onda de calor, parece mesmo não ter fim… Tenho usado roupa simples e fresca, mas infelizmente não tenho tido tempo para documentar…

It’s been crazy hot around here and in spite of the company’s air conditioner (at my office there are co-workers that don’t stand it and consistently turn it off until the temps raise up to uncomfortable levels), the only way to feel at ease is to dress something breezy and relaxed. This week I’m undertaking a training course at work and I’ve been busy and away from my laptop. I don’t forget about my readers so I still managed to take these pictures at my office’s restroom.

Tem estado um calor insuportável por aqui e apesar do ar condicionado (no meu local de trabalho há pessoas que não suportam o ar condicionado e desligam-no consistentemente até que a temperatura sobe acima do limiar suportável), a única forma de estar minimamente à vontade é vestir algo arejado e descontraído. Esta semana estou a fazer uma formação, por isso tenho estado mais ocupada e longe do computador durante a maior parte do tempo, mas mesmo assim, não me esqueço de vocês! Ainda consegui tirar estas fotos nos lavabos do meu local de trabalho!

Green and blue – Azul e verde

My mother used to tell me to never wear blue and green together; there's even a popular saying that translated from Portuguese would mean something like “blue and green looks like spit on the wall” (it sounds much better in Portuguese and it actually rhymes). Nowadays clashing colors are indeed wearable and even fashionable.
I wore this outfit to my Goddaughter 3rd Birthday party; I wanted something cheerful and fresh with some edginess to the mix, so I came up with this simple outfit with emerald green predominance, and spiced it up a bit by adding the blue nail polish and a blue necklace worn as a bracelet. The rope bracelet was made by me, inspired by the famous and expensive Proenza Schouler rope bracelets.

Já a minha Mãe dizia “Azul e verde, escarro na parede”, mas hoje em dia é normal usar juntas cores ditas “conflituosas”, combinações que desde que bem-feitas (de forma equilibrada e na proporção correcta) dão um toque muito moderno a qualquer conjunto.
Usei este conjunto para ir à festa de aniversário dos 3 anos da minha afilhada; queria algo alegre e fresco, com um toque de vanguarda, e então parti dum conjunto simples com a predominância do verde-esmeralda e juntei um verniz azul e alguns acessórios como um colar de missangas azul usado como pulseira. A Pulseira de corda foi feita por mim, inspirada nas famosas e dispendiosas pulseiras Proenza Schouler.

Pink blazer (DIY) – Blazer cor-de-rosa (feito por mim)

Sorry for the vacuum system as background but by the time I got home that spot was the only one with decent lighting for taking pictures. The pink blazer is my latest DIY project and here you see me wearing it with army green pants and top, again an unusual color combo, but it works in my opinion. I was tired (it was a long day) and my pants were wrinkled of being sit at my desk for most of the day, but I couldn’t miss the chance of showing off my new blazer! Desculpem o sistema de aspiração central como fundo, mas às horas que cheguei este era o único lugar com luz decente para tirar fotos. O blazer cor-de-rosa é o meu último projecto de costura e hoje podem ver-me a usá-lo com calças e top verde-tropa, novamente uma combinação de cores pouco habitual mas que resulta, na minha opinião. Estava cansada e com a roupa engelhada de estar sentada o dia todo na secretária, mas não pude perder a oportunidade de mostrar o blazer vestido. I love when I dig deep into my closet, finding clothes that I own from previous seasons, and I’m able to mix them into very contemporary and fashionable looks. This is the case with this outfit: I knitted the top and I made the wide leg pants back in 2009, but they feel pretty updated for spring-summer 2011. I just love the sea foam green combined with the coral, it’s not seen very often yet it feels trendy to me. The flowery foulard complements the outfit like a charm, and the white satchel adds some freshness. When I was taking the pictures outdoors, noticed that I had forgotten the earrings and the rings on my makeup cabinet; I had to go back in the house for them… I took the last picture already at the office, to be able to show you all the accessories that I’m wearing today. Adoro procurar fundo nos armários de roupa e descobrir peças que tenho de estações passadas, que combinadas proporcionam conjuntos muito dentro das tendências actuais. É o caso deste conjunto: tricotei o top e costurei as calças em 2009, mas enquadram-se perfeitamente nas tendências do momento. Adoro o verde-água combinado com o coral, não é uma combinação que se vê muito por aí, no entanto a mim parece-me mesmo bastante actual. A écharpe florida complementa o conjunto na perfeição, e a bolsa branca dá-lhe um ar extra de frescura. Quando estava a tirar as fotos reparei que me tinha esquecido dos brincos e dos anéis na bancada onde me costumo maquilhar, tive de voltar dentro de casa para os ir buscar… A última foto tirei-a já no escritório para poderem ver todos os acessórios que estou a usar hoje. Ivory lace dress: Casual (1) – Vestido de renda marfim: casual (1)

This is my first take at styling my DIY lace dress in a casual outfit, trying to compensate the over sweetness of the lace with rougher elements like the black patent ankle boots, the asymmetric black leather jacket and the silver jewelry. This look was also suggested by Míriam who sent me this link to a similar look (a more laid back look than my interpretation, in my opinion, but the main elements are all there) featured at Caroline's Mode blog (click here for the look).
I plan on wearing the dress in other ways, some of them suggested by my beloved readers, so there will be a series of related outfit posts dedicated to this dress (not necessarily sequential), as it's being done for the striped dress series.

Esta é a minha primeira opção para usar o vestido de renda marfim que fiz recentemente de uma forma mais casual, tentando compensar a doçura da renda com elementos mais “pesados” tais como as botas de verniz pretas, a jaqueta de cabedal assimétrica e a bijutaria em prata. Este visual foi também sugerido pela Míriam, que me enviou um enlace para um coordenado similar (embora mais descontraído na minha opinião, mas com muitos elementos em comum), que foi publicado no blogue Caroline’s Mode (clicar aqui para ver a foto).
Planeio usar este vestido de outras formas, portanto haverá uma série de artigos dedicados ao vestido (à semelhança do que tenho feito para o vestido às riscas), não necessariamente sequenciais. Alguns dos conjuntos serão inspirados em ideias sugeridas pelos meus leitores.

While taking these pictures I was able to catch Missy in a rare moment of stillness… She looks like a little black panther, doesn’t she? She’s fond of the tall grass (really need to mow my lawn, btw), a good cover to trying to catch an eventually unwary sparrow…

Neon color trend – Tendência cores néon

That’s one of those trends that many people just won’t be adhering, I guess. Personally I like this trend (if well balanced), and here’s my first take at it this year, a casual outfit incorporating a neon yellow sheer blouse (I have it for at least 5 years) combined with jeans and navy blue top, shoes and clutch. There’s also a touch of lime green given by the skinny belt and my earrings which weren’t visible at all in my outfit pictures.

Eis uma tendência à qual creio que muita gente não vai aderir. Pessoalmente gosto desta tendência (desde que seja usada de forma equilibrada) e aqui têm a minha primeira interpretação, num estilo muito casual que incorpora uma blusa transparente (tenho-a há pelo menos 5 anos), combinada com uns jeans e top, bolsa e sapatos em azul-marinho. O conjunto tem também um toque de verde lima dado pelo cinto fininho e pelos brincos, que não ficaram à vista nas fotos do conjunto.
Muito obrigada pelos elogios ao meu último coordenado, com o vestido às riscas e o top! Fico contente pela maioria de vocês terem gostado, quanto a mim senti-me muito bem a usá-lo!

I got many compliments on my outfit today; someone even told me that I looked like Monica Bellucci, lol (I wish!)! Again I went on a Pradalicious vive, pairing a striped dress that I’ve made last year (sewing details are published here) worn as a skirt with the purple draped cowl top that I recently made (sewing details here). I also took my Simplicity cozy (sewing details here), just in case the weather got chilly in the end of the day but I didn’t have to wear it; it feels like summer, I swear!

Hoje recebi bastantes elogios à minha “fatiota”; houve até alguém que me disse que eu fazia lembrar a Mónica Bellucci, hahaha, quem me dera! De novo optei por um estilo “à lá Prada primavera verão 2011”, ao coordenar um vestido às riscas que fiz no ano passado (detalhes de costura aqui) com o top drapeado que fiz recentemente (detalhes aqui). Pinstripes and Orange – Risca-de-giz e cor-de-laranja

My outfit today consists of a saruel jumpsuit I recently made (the pattern is from the latest BurdaEasy; ~~I’ll publish the sewing review later~~ The sewing review is published here), paired with an orange leather jacket that I bought some years ago during a business stay in Sao Paulo, Brazil; the platform shoes and the bag are worn for the first time, but I got them a few months ago while everybody was still wearing winter hues (I got a great discount on the shoes). I’m also wearing a silver sterling set of necklace and earrings, all birthday gifts from friends at the office. The Eletta watch is customized with the silver metal bracelet and an engraved silver dial ring.
I know saruel pants aren’t everybody’s cup of tea; my boyfriend opposes to this style completely, but these look like normal pants seen from the back and the front is like folded to one side… When I showed the finished jumpsuit to him he said it looked nice on me so I was happy!

O meu coordenado de hoje consiste num macacão saruel que fiz recentemente (o molde é da última BurdaEasy, ~~depois publico no meu blogue de costura~~ Os detalhes de costura encontram-se aqui), usado com uma jaqueta de pele cor-de-laranja que comprei na minha última estadia em trabalho em S. Paulo, Brasil; As sandálias plataforma e a bolsa são a estrear, mas já os tenho há alguns meses; comprei-os enquanto toda a gente ainda andava a usar tons invernais (e os sapatos tiveram um bom desconto). Também estou a usar um conjunto muito bonito de colar e brincos em prata esterlina, ambos prendas de amigas do escritório. O relógio Eletta hoje leva o bracelete e o disco gravado tudo em prateado.
Sei bem que muita gente não gosta de calças saruel; o meu companheiro é o primeiro a dizer-me que detesta este estilo, mas estas calças parecem normais vistas de trás e à frente ficam dobradas para um dos lados. Quando lhe mostrei o macacão vestido depois de o terminar ele disse que até tinha ficado giro, o que me deixou muito contente!

Silver and Green – Prateado e verde

I’m still here, just too busy… Thanks for checking on me, everything is fine (I’ll reply to those who emailed me asking if everything is ok as soon as I can), but other aspects in life have been taking precedence over blogging lately…

So, here I am today wearing a pair of green pants I’ve just made (it’s V2973 minus the pockets; ~~I’ll write a short review over at my sewing blog as soon as I get some spare time, along with a couple more simple projects~~ You can read the sewing review here), paired with a lurex silver sweater, my light grey Melissa sandals and my new love (a Birthday gift from the boyfriend), the Vilamoura Anniversary edition Eletta watch (it’s a customizable watch with a lot of different colored bracelets and numbered disks; Eletta is a Portuguese brand using the best Swiss technology). I’m also wearing the Scissor pendant necklace that I’ve won from DeniseAngela’s monthly contest, along with other silver accessories.

Ainda estou por aqui, apenas demasiado ocupada… Obrigada a quem se preocupou em saber de mim, está tudo bem (Vou responder aos emails que recebi logo que possa); o que acontece é que outros aspectos da vida têm tido precedência sobre os blogues ultimamente…

Polka Dot Samurai – Samurai às bolinhas

So today it’s Polka Dots and palazzo pants (I can’t help myself recalling traditional Samurai pants when I see these pants, but in fact they are quite different from the real Samurai pants). The polka dot flower pin is a gift from a very dear friend and I thought she would like to see me wearing it! Hoje temos bolinhas e calças “palazzo” (não consigo evitar de me lembrar das calças dos Samurais quando olho para estas, mas a verdade é que as calças dos samurais são bastante diferentes). O alfinete às bolinhas em forma de flor é um presente de uma amiga muito querida e achei que ela ia gostar de me ver a usá-lo hoje! A “clutch” amarela é tendência esta primavera (vejam por exemplo neste artigo) e dá um toque especial ao conjunto. My Burberry inspired coat (self made) – O meu casaco inspirado em Burberry (feito por mim)

The ones of you who also follow my sewing blog will be no strangers to this coat. I decided to knock off the famous waist zipper military style Burberry coat and this is the end result; I must say I’m quite happy, it turned out exactly as I had envisioned it. Today I’m wearing it with a bright orange tank top, my navy/black leather biker style pants and black wedge boots, a somehow badass look, hope you like it! I took the pictures in a hurry because it was about to start raining...

As minhas leitoras/leitores que também seguem o meu blogue de costura vão com certeza reconhecer este casaco, trata-se de um casaco feito por mim inspirado no famoso casaco Burberry com fecho separável na cintura, e estas são as primeiras fotos do casaco terminado. Estou bastante satisfeita com o resultado, ficou exactamente como tinha imaginado. Hoje estou a usá-lo com um top laranja vivo, as minhas calças de pele azuis e pretas, estilo motard, e as minhas botas de cunha, um visual um tanto irreverente. Espero que gostem! Tirei as fotos um pouco à pressa porque estava prestes a chover...

Welcoming spring – Dando as boas-vindas à Primavera

Spring is here and the weather is playing along, at least until Thursday (according to our weather report, the weather will get worst from Thursday on).
I’ve been really busy and unable to post as often as I used to; on the sewing front I’m this close to finishing the Burberry inspired coat, which at this point is just lacking the hand-sewn tailor style buttonholes; when I got to the point of sewing the buttonholes (during the weekend) it was night time and hand sewing on dark fabric is something that I like to do within daylight. I hope I’ll still get the chance of wearing the coat soon, but if not, I’ll still take some outfit pictures to show you guys.

A Primavera chegou e o tempo está de acordo com ela, pelo menos até Quinta-feira, uma vez que de acordo com o nosso boletim meteorológico, o tempo irá piorar a partir daí.
Tenho andado bastante ocupada, como devem ter reparado pela ausência dos blogues; quanto à costura, estou mesmo quase a acabar o casaco inspirado em Burberry, só falta fazer as casas à mão. Só não o acabei pois quando cheguei ao ponto de bordar as casas já era de noite e este é um trabalho que prefiro fazer com luz natural, ainda para mais tratando-se de um tecido muito escuro. Espero ter ainda oportunidades de usar o casaco proximamente, mas mesmo que o tempo não esteja de acordo, vou vesti-lo para vos mostrar aqui alguns conjuntos possíveis.

I’ve become a very morning person since I’ve started working out early in the morning, but today I’m not going to the gym; instead I will get to the office earlier hoping to get some problems solved before lunch (and take some time publish this post too, ha! Lately I haven’t been able to spare much time for blogging). The lighting conditions were poor early in the morning, I’m afraid...

No entanto hoje não irei ao ginásio; em vez disso vou entrar mais cedo no trabalho para tentar resolver uns problemas antes de almoço (e também ter algum tempo para publicar este artigo! Ultimamente não tenho tido tempo para nada…). A luz ambiente é que era pouca a esta hora, infelizmente…

Long time no blogging… Life is just getting in the way, I can’t help it. Today I was finally able to take a few outfit pictures, and this is what I wore to the office. The booties are new and were bought on sale (I’ve been coveting them for quite some time but I waited and waited and this time it was worth it, they are mine and at a fraction of their retail price). The coat and the sweater where made by myself (details here and here); unfortunately there hasn’t been much activity in the sewing studio lately… I didn't finish my Burberry inspired coat the past weekend as I had planned, and I’m relying on some free time next weekend to be able to finish it. It's taking forever... I am fed up with winter clothes by now and ready for spring, just bring it on!

Há algum tempo que não publico nada… É a vida que às vezes me troca as voltas e fico sem tempo para nada, não consigo evitá-lo. Hoje finalmente consegui um tempinho para tirara umas fotos e este é o conjunto que levei para o escritório. Os botins foram comprados em saldos (já andava a namorá-los há algum tempo, mas esperei e esperei, e no final valeu bem a pena, pois comprei-os a uma fracção do preço inicial). O casaco e o top foram feitos por mim (detalhes aqui e aqui); infelizmente não tenho tido muito tempo para costurar e não consegui terminar o casaco inspirado em Burberry no fim-de-semana passado, como tinha planeado. Estou a contar ter algum tempo no próximo fim-de-semana para isso. Tenho que confessar que já estou um pouco saturada de roupa de Inverno e pronta para a Primavera, venha ela!

I loved the way the chunky eggplant fur was teamed up with bright colors, creating a bold contrast and then I remembered; I own a faux fur jacket just like this one!
I also spotted this Oscar de La Renta model; this time eggplant is worn almost monochromatically, creating the illusion of a longer silhouette:

I got a call while I was taking photos of today’s outfit but since time is so valuable to me I just kept hitting the remote while talking on the cell, lol. The week has been stressful enough but I think I’m managing the stress better since I’ve got back to the gym. So far I’ve stoically managed to keep up with my routine… The only setback is that my free time at home is even shorter now because I go to bed much earlier… I have a pile of unanswered emails to attend and also a lot of blog reading to catch up with. My sewing projects are also delayed, since I can only manage time for sewing during the weekend… The good news is, I’ve been feeling better, and I rarely wake up in the middle of the night with my arms numb, so this sewing diet is paying off on the health front, I guess…

Recebi uma chamada enquanto estava atirar fotos e como o tempo para mim é muito valioso, lá continuei com as fotos enquanto falava, hehehehe. A semana tem sido stressante que chegue, mas acho que tenho conseguido gerir o stress melhor desde que retomei as idas ao ginásio. Até agora tenho conseguido estoicamente acordar de madrugada e manter a rotina dia sim, dia não… A única desvantagem é ter ainda menos tempo para mim, pois agora deito-me muito mais cedo do que antes. Em consequência tenho uma pilha de emails por responder, e uma data de blogues para visitar e pôr-me a par. As minhas costuras também se têm atrasado, pois só consigo ter algum tempo durante o fim-de-semana. As boa notícia é que a dormência dos braços durante a noite é agora bastante menos frequente, sem dúvida resultado da minha “dieta” da costura…

I don’t wear this blazer very often because I don’t want to wear it out (visually speaking); it adds a strong impression to any outfit with its pointy shoulders and black and white horizontal stripes, very Givenchy-esque in my opinion. The skirt and the sweater were made by me, the boots, what can I say, they are my go-to boots because they are so comfy and go with everything.

Não uso este blazer muitas vezes porque não quero “gastar” o impacto visual que proporciona a qualquer conjunto. Dá uma forte impressão com os seus ombros pontudos e as listas horizontais pretas e brancas, um estilo muito Givenchy, na minha opinião. A saia e a sweater foram feitas por mim, quanto às botas, bem, viro-me sempre para elas pois são muito confortáveis e condizem com tudo.

Color is still absent so I added a little purple prop (my Pilates ball) for visual interest. This week I’ve managed to get back to the gym (I’ve been absent for nearly 3 months mostly because of my recurring lack of time), but to be able to keep up with it I leave home at 6h55 in the morning (that’s an early start, don’t you think?) so I’m in the gym at 7h15 all ready to start my gym class. This means I must break my habit of thinking of what to wear in the morning, while eating breakfast; I must pack my clothes the night before, put on my workout outfit in the morning, eat something and hurry up not to be late to the gym. After finishing my gym class I then take a Turkish bath, a shower and I take my time drying my hair, dressing up and doing my makeup. I get in the office by 9h30, which is very reasonably within our flexible timetable. I’m doing this routine every other day for now and I also plan on going to the gym every Saturday morning, so making it 4 times a week. I really need this to fight the accumulating stress and to help with my cervical problem. I’m not lying to you; I am beaten up but I’m also feeling better already.

A cor continua ausente dos meus conjuntos, então adicionei um adereço roxo (a minha bola de Pilates) para acrescentar algum interesse à foto. Esta semana consegui retomar as minhas idas ao ginásio (já andava ausente há cerca de três meses, por causa da minha falta de tempo recorrente), mas para conseguir manter a rotina estou a sair de casa às 6h55 da manhã (isto é que é começar cedo o dia!), para estar no ginásio para as aulas das 7h15. Isto significa que tenho de deixar de pensar no que vou vestir de manhã enquanto tomo o pequeno-almoço e em vez disso preparar a mala na noite anterior. Assim acordo, equipo-me, como alguma coisa e corro para o ginásio. Depois de terminada a aula tenho bastante tempo para tomar uma banho turco, um duche, vestir-me nas calmas, secar o cabelo, maquilhar-me e sair para estar no trabalho às 9h30, o que é bastante razoável para quem tem horário flexível. Estou a fazer isto três vezes por semana, e ainda conto ir ao ginásio aos sábados de manhã, o que perfaz 4 vezes por semana, para já. Preciso mesmo disto para combater o stress que se tem acumulado e para atenuar o meu problema da cervical, por isso torçam por mim para conseguir manter este ritmo. Não vou mentir, estou moída, mas ao menos já começo a sentir-me melhor.

The mood is absence of color, perhaps because the weather is so grey. We are having thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail, which is very rare around these parts. Yesterday we had a major power failure during the entire evening probably due to the bad weather, and we ended up having a candlelight dinner at home; the food was cold, but it was kind of romantic for Valentine’s Day so not everything was lost after all.

O tema é a ausência de cor, a condizer com o tempo que está tão cinzento. Temos tido trovoadas, chuva e até granizo. Ontem tivemos uma falha de energia praticamente desde que cheguei a casa até à hora de deitar (provavelmente em consequência do mau tempo), e acabámos por jantar em casa à luz de velas. A comida estava fria mas o ambiente à luz das velas foi bem romântico para o dia de S. Valentim. Nem tudo ficou perdido, afinal de contas.

In fact it started pouring just five minutes after these pictures were taken; I was lucky not to get wet and damage this fabulous velvet coat that I’ve made according to the traditional method of tailoring (thanks to Paco’s excellent tutorial on tailoring). I made this coat when I participated on The Great Coat Sew-along last year, a initiative that united sewing bloggers all over the world with the common goal of making a tailored coat. I consider it one of my finest works so far.

De facto começou a chover apenas 5 minutos depois de tirar estas fotos; tive sorte em não molhar e estragar este magnífico casaco de veludo que confeccionei de acordo com os métodos de alfaiataria tradicionais (graças ao excelente tutorial do Paco). Fiz este casaco integrada no “The Great Coat Sew-along”, uma iniciativa que reuniu “bloggers” de costura de todo o mundo com o objectivo de cada uma produzir um casaco. Considero este casaco um dos meus melhores trabalhos até à data.

When one complains about stress and tiredness at the beginning of the week, it’s usually a bad sign. That’s how I feel today: I couldn’t deal with all I had planned for last week, many tasks are now delayed and I feel like I’m falling behind on so many things, both professionally and in my personal life,… I start the week fearing not being able to catch up on what I need to do.

Wearing my long fur coat – A usar o casaco de pelo comprido

It’s cold enough, in fact the weather is wet and cold at the same time, a rare combination around these parts… Yesterday I saw in the news that it’s snowing a lot in the mountains. I wish I was there because I really miss the snow.
In this outfit I’m mixing a leather short dress (it’s grey leather on the front and black double knit on the back) with thick black leggings and my pleather sleeve sweater. When I get the coat off I’ll wear the dress as a vest (with the zipper open). This is a really short dress and I feel it’s not appropriate to wear it to the office as a dress with tights so I’m styling it this way instead.

Está frio o suficiente, de facto está frio e húmido ao mesmo tempo, o que é raro por estas partes… Ontem vi nas notícias que nas montanhas tem caído bastante neve. Adorava estar lá, pois sinto bastantes saudades da neve.
Neste conjunto estou a misturar um vestido de cabedal (cabedal cinzento na frente e tecido de malha estável preto (do mesmo tipo do tecido das calças) atrás com leggings grossas pretas e a minha camisola preta com mangas de napa. Quando tirar o casaco vou usar o vestido aberto, como um colete. Este vestido é muito curto e achei que não seria apropriado usá-lo como um vestido, com meias opacas, em vez disso experimentei usá-lo desta forma.

That’s what I get for changing bags almost every day: I forgot my sunnies at home in the other bag. At least I was able to take a few outdoor pictures of today’s outfit, which is a little dressier than usual, I might say. The coat is thrifted, I spotted it in the end of summer; knowing that camel would be big this season, I didn’t pass on this one bargain. I made the tunic (also worn here), and the sewing details were posted here. Too bad about the sun hitting on my eyes, other than that the pictures came out really great IMO.

É o que se tem quando se anda sempre a mudar de bolsa: esqueci-me dos óculos de sol na outra bolsa em casa. Ao menos consegui tirar algumas fotos no exterior para mostrar o conjunto de hoje, que é um pouco mais “polido” do que o costume, se me permitem dizê-lo. O casaco foi comprado em 2ª mão, descobri-o no fim do Verão, e sabendo que o "camel" seria uma cor forte no Inverno não deixei passar esta pechincha. A túnica foi feita por mim (também a estou a usar aqui) e os detalhes de costura foram publicados aqui. É mesmo pena o sol estar a bater-me nos olhos, tirando isso as fotos até ficaram muito bem, na minha opinião.

A new working week starts today and I felt compelled to wearing a style that I usually save for the weekends because it’s a little edgy (a deconstructed sweater is not what you could call business casual, right? My luck is that I work in a very casual environment); turns out I got a lot of compliments, so people there are starting to widen their horizons when it comes to style and fashion.

I was busy for most of the weekend but still I managed to sew this dress (it’s the same dress as this one, only in different color and with pleather patch pockets; the pattern was reviewed here). It was a quick project, and even more because the pattern was already traced. I’m wearing it with a biker style leather vest, a recent purchase with upcoming spring in mind.

The grey sweater was bought last year at a random street store; it stood out among many other ordinary clothes and it reminded me of the body armor the knights used to wear. The necklace, which can also be worn as a belt, adds some boldness to the outfit and also relates to the jewelry used in the medieval period. The top with the pleather sleeves and the pants were made by me.

O top de tricô cinzento foi comprador numa loja qualquer aqui perto; chamou-me a atenção de entre muitas outras roupas vulgares, porque me fez lembrar das armaduras usadas pelos cavaleiros. O colar, que também pode ser usado como cinto, proporciona um toque de ousadia ao conjunto e também lembra as jóias usadas no período medieval. I rarely repeat an outfit, and I’m always coming up with new ways of wearing my clothes, often mixing the old with the new… It’s kind of a mind game to me. Oh, and I don’t plan my outfits in advance; I decide what to wear while eating breakfast.

Estou a usar o meu novo chapéu e o casaco que terminei há pouco tempo (os detalhes de costura encontram-se publicados aqui). Em breve (daqui a algumas semanas provavelmente) irei fazer uma pausa na costura de Inverno para começar a reunir ideias e tecidos para o meu guarda-roupa de Primavera. Não que esteja já farta das roupas de Inverno, pois realmente são as minhas favoritas, mas sinto que tenho roupa demais, suficiente para preencher a minha necessidade de diversificar até que termine o Inverno. Raramente repito um conjunto, e estou sempre a congeminar novas formas de usar a minha roupa, muitas vezes misturando coisas novas com antigas… É uma espécie de jogo mental para mim. Ah, e não planeio adiantado o que vou vestir no dia seguinte; decido o que vou usar nesse dia enquanto tomo o pequeno almoço.

Unusual print – Um padrão fora do vulgar

Wearing a tunic I made recently (the pattern is an original by Paco Peralta, the sewing details are published here), with suede leather shorts, Obi belt and brown suede booties (trekking style with heels, a bit of an antagonism, I know). The outfit is complemented for outdoor weather layering a trench coat and a fur vest. The bag was made by me; it’s a knockoff of the famous Dublin Bag (you can read about the process here, just check the English language box on each post).

Estou a usar uma túnica que fiz recentemente (o molde é um original de Paco Peralta, os detalhes de costura podem ser consultados aqui), com calções de camurça, cinto Obi e botins de camurça castanhos (há um certo antagonismo nesta associação). Para o exterior, o conjunto é complementado com uma gabardina e um colete de pelo. A bolsa que estou a usar também foi feita por mim; é uma imitação da famosa bolsa Dublin (podem ler acerca da confecção da bolsa aqui).

Yeti style - Estilo Yeti

I didn’t actually wear the long fur coat to the office, since today the weather is not cold enough (we do have cold weather where I live, but not that often; today the weather is rainy and the temperature is 55F), but I wanted to show you guys how the coat looks on me. I made this coat (sewing details are posted here, if you care to take a peek in) thinking of my snowboard vacations in the mountains, so let’s pretend I’m in the Swiss Alps, lol. I really love this outfit, the very first of 2011 and one of my favorites already. The last couple of pictures show today’s outfit, with no coat on. The intarsia hooded vest was a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law. The pictures didn’t came out very good because it was rainy and dark outside and I had to use the machine’s flashlight indoors, which caused that nasty outline shadow. Happy New Year to all!

Não cheguei a usar o casaco de pelo hoje, pois não está frio suficiente para um casaco destes (aqui é raro o tempo estar mesmo frio, tipo abaixo de zero, mas às vezes acontece; não hoje, que está chuvoso e por isso as temperaturas rondam os 13 graus), mas queria mostra-vos como fica vestido. Fiz este casaco (os detalhes de costura estão publicados aqui, se quiserem espreitar) a pensar nas minhas férias na neve, por isso imaginem por um momento que estou nos Alpes Suíços, hehehe. Gosto mesmo muito deste conjunto, o primeiro que publico em 2011 e já um dos meus favoritos. As últimas fotos mostram o que realmente levei vestido, o conjunto sem o casaco. O colete com capucho foi um presente de natal da minha sogra. As fotos não saíram nada de especial, pois o dia estava escuro e tive de usar o flash da máquina, o que causou algumas sombras indesejadas. Feliz Ano Novo a todos(as)!

Purple coat and leather shorts – Casaco púrpura e calções de napa

The last couple of days have been too busy to sew, there’s no time… I still can spare a few minutes in the morning to take a few pictures though. I made the purple coat last year but never got to reviewing the pattern (it’s from the September 2008 BurdaStyle magazine, model 101)… I will try to review it later if I can find the time. Nos últimos dias não tenho tido tempo para nada, muito menos costurar… Mesmo assim ainda tiro uns minutos de manhã, quando posso, para fotografar a roupa que levo vestida. Fiz o casaco púrpura no ano passado, mas não cheguei a publicá-lo no meu blogue de costura. O molde é da revista de Setembro de 2008, modelo 101 e quando tiver um tempinho publico os detalhes. Os calções de napa também foram feitos por mim e os detalhes podem ser encontrados aqui.

Sorry for the frowning face; I got up a little sick today. It would have been nice to stay in bed and rest some more but instead I had to get dressed in a hurry and go to work…

Taking Missy to the vet – A levar a Missy ao veterinário

it’s Missy’s second appointment to the vet and she’s not happy to go out in a cage.

It was really windy, so forgive the messy hair… I am aware that this outfit is not everybody’s cup of tea, but I really love this style and I felt great in it. I’ve own these boots since my twenties… They are some sort of talisman for me; they were one of the first designer pieces that I’ve bought.
Most of you already know that I’ve made the gray cloak and the black leggings and sweater (sewing details here and here, respectively).

Hoje esteve bastante vento, por isso não liguem ao cabelo desalinhado… Tenho consciência que nem toda a gente vai gostar deste conjunto, mas eu gosto e senti-me óptima com ele. Já tenho estas botas desde os vinte e tal anos; elas são uma espécie de talismã para mim, pois foram uma das minhas primeiras compras de designer.

I wore the first outfit at home when I had some friends over two weekends ago. The last pictures show today’s outfit as I got home from the office (I came home late and really tired; I’ve been swamped with work and it won’t slow down until my Christmas break). Usei o primeiro conjunto em casa há dois fins-de-semana atrás, enquanto recebia uns amigos. As últimas fotos mostram o conjunto que usei hoje, e foram tiradas quando cheguei a casa do trabalho (cheguei bastante tarde e cansada, pois tenho tido bastante que fazer e as coisas não vão melhorar até ao Natal). I’ve own this jacket for more than two years, and I’ve been a fan of this style before the trend came out with the Burberry Prorsum Fall10 show. This one is made of leather and synthetic fur on the inside. I also own a jacket made of real shearling that I bought second-hand online.

I made this green fur vest yesterday from a BurdaStyle downloadable pattern (I downloaded it a long time ago, I have no idea if it’s still available). I really love this shade of green. Cloaking around - A passear encapotada

Taking my chance between rain showers, here I am wearing the cloak that I finished yesterday (click here for the sewing details and here to know where the inspiration came from; I drafted the pattern from scratch). I styled it with earthy tones today; next time you’ll see it with black leather and biker boots (the boots are on their way to me, I ordered them a few days ago).My small vacation break is over and I’m back to the office, so less time to sew from now on…

A tentar a sorte entre aguaceiros, aqui estou eu a usar o manto que terminei ontem (cliquem aqui para os detalhes de costura e aqui para perceberem de onde veio a inspiração para este manto; o molde foi desenhado por mim de raiz). Coordenei-o com tons terra, mas da próxima vez vão vê-lo num coordenado totalmente em negro e com botas à motard (as botas estão a a caminho, encomendei-as há alguns dias). As minhas curtas férias terminaram e estou de volta ao trabalho, o que quer dizer menos tempo para costurar a partir de agora…
